The journey starts...

Hay Harbour, Sailor's Cove

I never imagined I’d have a blog. Too time consuming I thought. But coming to Second Life has opened a new horizon in my real life and though I seem to be doing things I have always done (believe you me working here too), this new lifestyle has really intrigued me.
I am amazed at the amount of creativity, friendship and support I have come across. Where I come from showing respect to others rules. So like the French (tu/vous) and old English(thou/thee) we address our peers, elders and new acquaintances with with similar courtesy pronouns and use just last names and there is always a distance, a kind of reservation put forth the moment you meet a person. In my experience it takes me a long time to get over this courtesy thing, this forced politeness.
Second Life in this sense is a bit like beautiful, mystic Scotland, where everyone knows everyone else and no matter who you are addresses you with your first name. And they are one of the politest people I have ever met.
I am a sailor in RL. And the first thing I did was to find a boat and a sailing community. My first home is in Valhalla and I am now a resident of Sailor’s Cove which reminds me somewhat of Scotland though it is part of a New England sim.
I have made good friends, I have met amazing yachtsman and women who as opposed to Real Life experiences are always there for you, support you and share their wisdom with you.
Also have met and have become friends with extremely creative artists and designers…
I have also fallen in and out of love here. Tremendously sensual and sensuous guys in SL…
To keep the long story short, in Real Life I make my living writing: I am a journalist and work in publishing. I am not much of a speaker so I express myself better in writing!
This blog is going to be about people, places and feelings I experience in SL. How they reflect upon my mind’s eye. Hopefully to my camera… The images may and may not have a caption...
